A rare visitor or escapee. This European Eagle Owl was first sighted in the small copse opposite the Catholic High School on the 5th January 2013 sitting in the trees nonchalantly ignoring all the crows and magpies raucous chattering. Later that day this picture was taken by an Eaton road resident sitting on their fence at the bottom of their garden. From whence he is now is a mystery, but he is surely going to turn peoples heads as this is a big and unusual bird. Thanks to Max Gooch

Sorry to dis-appoint any twitchers is not wild but an escapee and the Owl belongs to me. Unfortunately it went missing in the middle of the night between the 2nd and 3rd of january. My neighbours described being woken at around 2am by an disturbance; a break in. In the morning the had was missing. Who though that they were doing a good deed by releasing it has been misinformed as the owl cannot fend for itself and is more likely at the moment living off its reserves; which it can do for weeks. if anyone does spot the Owl please contact me immediately and I will do my best to recover it. before i owned it, it was a display Owl for a wildlife park, but nevertheless I would advise trying to capture it yourself philip w jones tel 07867 980 789
