PUBLIC MEETING - GREENBELT, LOCAL PLAN and PLANNING with Nick Boles MP - Monday 7th October 2pm9/24/2013 The planning minister Nick Boles MP will be in Chester on Monday October 7th at the invitation of Chester MP Stephen Mosley.
Mr Boles will address a public meeting and take questions from members of the public. The meeting will start at 2pm on Monday 7th October in the University's Riverside Centre. People wishing to attend are asked to pre-register via [email protected] or by ringing 01244 322732 (office hours). Due to his quasi-judicial role in government in determining planning appeals Mr Boles will not be able to take specific questions on live planning applications. Stephen Mosley said, "With so much public concern about planning matters and the green belt now is a good time for the minister to visit so he can listen to concerns and answer any questions people may have." Below is the original feasibility study showing the two options as a public document. In the annexes you will see the power curves, related power outputs and high level figures associated with those returns. Further work on the figures has been undertaken reflecting the rise in energy prices and potential reductions in the purchase of power from grid by the university and potentially Council, as part of the overall picture. These figures have not yet been released as they are being held in discussion as a potential part of the capital programme. All the figures produced so far are subject to change due to the design not yet being finalised and they will also be affected by continuing changes in the price of energy and Governmental Schemes e.g. Feed-in-Tariffs (FiTs) and Renewable Obligation Certificates (ROCs). The scheme will only continue to be developed as long as it remains financially viable. Philanthropist Edward Peter Jones must be turning in his grave.... Chronicle story here.
According to a CW&C press release, due to improvement works to the pavements on Lower Bridge Street, traffic will be restricted to one way - down only :
Council to resurface footway along important shopping street in Chester 28 August 2013 Following on from last month’s national award for high quality street design, Cheshire West and Chester Council is to transform the footway in the important shopping street of Lower Bridge Street in Chester, with heritage York Stone. The eight week scheme between Pepper Street and St Olave and Castle Streets, begins on Monday 16 September 2013. And the finish of this paving matches the recent paving upgrades in Bridge Street and Watergate Street. For the duration of the works the road will be closed to northbound traffic and all vehicular traffic heading towards Chester will be diverted via Overleigh Roundabout, Grosvenor Street and Grosvenor Road. Vehicles heading southbound away from the City centre and towards Handbridge will not be affected. Councillor Lynn Riley, Executive Member for Localities said: “These works have been planned so as not to interfere with school holidays and will be finished before the run up to Christmas. “Using the same York Stone paving will visually link Lower Bridge Street with Bridge Street and the pedestrian area for shoppers and visitors to Chester. “We have listened to residents and business owners and know that improving the footway along this section is important to them, and they have wanted the work to be carried out for some time. “We apologise for making Lower Bridge Street one-way and the disruption this will cause and please bear with us while this work is being carried out"
“Following a number of comments made to me by local residents asking for improvements, I’m sure the new paving will be widely welcomed. “It’s an important route to the river, but I also hope this will encourage visitors to Chester to explore Lower Bridge Street and the businesses in this part of the city.” Link here to press release. |
