Of course WCC aren't in the business of providing public parking but one has to wonder when a 150 space car park is left idle especially when everyone is complaining about the lack of parking in Handbridge. Allegedly it can't be used as a car park, or even called one, thanks to a planning condition imposed on WCC when it rebuilt it's Handbridge campus ! On Thursday night, 20 June 2013, WATTON was spotted walking along a railway line by a PCSO as he travelled out of Chester by train. He stopped the train and went in pursuit of WATTON.I can now confirm, Police Officers from Cheshire and North Wales successfully apprehended 37 year old Peter WATTON on the A483, Cheshire / North Wales Police border.Following the Cheshire Police investigation into the rape of a 44 year old woman in Chester on Friday 14 June 2013, WATTON, of Lache, Chester, appeared before Magistrates in Chester on Saturday 22nd June 2013. He has been charged with a variety of offences including Rape, kidnap and false imprisonment. All these charges relate to the same woman who continues to receive the necessary on-going support from specially trained police officers.WATTON has been remanded into the prison system and dates for his subsequent courts appearances will be reported in due course, by the media.
I want to reassure the communities that have been impacted upon by this very serious but isolated incident, that Cheshire Police allocated significant amounts of resources to the police investigation, both in terms of the investigation strand and the reassurance of our communities. I am very aware through my conversations with members of the community, your locally elected representative and feedback from my officers on the ground, that this incident had a significant impact upon the public, particularly in areas around the Lache, Handbridge, Dukes Drive,Westminster Park, CurzonPark, but also across the Chester area as a whole. I am tremendously grateful to those members of the public who actively contacted the police to report what they believed were sightings of WATTON, prior to his apprehension. All reports were assessed and followed up by the police as we are acutely aware that often in these cases it is the vigilance and pro-active support of the public at large that assist police to trace and arrest offenders. You will continue to see my officers on patrol in the Lache and Dukes Drive area. They will be engaging with the public to ensure that this latest update in relation to WATTON has been effectively communicated. I would ask that those in receipt of this update also assist in disseminating the news. Please take the opportunity to speak to neighbours, work colleagues and friends within your local community to make sure that they know that a man who was considered to be a risk to the public has now been remanded in custody for the matters in connection for which he was initially sought. Please stop and speak to my officers, pass on any comments, concerns, observations that you may have in relation to this investigation. I will be maintaining dialogue with the locally elected Councillors in the area, thereby allowing me to also capture feedback that they have received. Kind Regards, Kevin Chambers Inspector, Chester Outer NPT |
